What You'll Need for the Brit

Preparing for a brit is simple. The following is a list of the items you should gather together in advance of your simcha.

  • Three freshly washed large cloth diapers
  • Two disposable diapers and a few diaper wipes
  • Three dozen individually wrapped 3x3 sterile gauze pads
  • One small box of sterile cotton balls
  • A fresh tube of bacitracin ointment
  • A fresh tube of vaseline
  • A wastebasket with a plastic bag liner
  • A small table
  • A sturdy table, about the size of a bridge table, with a white tablecloth
  • A lamp or other adequate lighting
  • A loaf of challah
  • An unopened bottle of kosher sweet grape wine (room temperature)
  • A kiddush cup
  • A pair of Shabbat candlesticks with candles and matches
  • One to two tallises (prayer shawls)
  • A standard bed pillow with pillow case
  • Head coverings (yarmulkes) for all males
